Topic - Electronic Conference Approved Literature:
WHAT IS eCAL?
The World Service Office (WSO) just announced a new form of “Conference Approved Literature (CAL).” ...You may not know the process that approves any of our literature. The idea starts with a World Service Conference (WSC) motion. Then the WSO solicits sharings, selects a writer, approves the material through a committee of delegates and other volunteers, and finally publishes the new title. This process often takes about five years.

The WSC realized that timely material is difficult through this traditional process and that there are other forms of communication, like videos, photographs, poems, etc. that may better reflect the Al-Anon message, especially for those who have grown up with the Internet age... Read more >

Call for Holiday Bash volunteers…

As of now the bash committee is comprised of about 10 people. We need a few more helpers -- so if you want to sign up let me know. If you have any questions or ideas please feel free to contact me. This is a big event and it takes a lot of time, sweat, tears, money and love. So feel free to pitch in with even passing out the Kleenex. Service is part of my recovery.

The Bash Committee meetings are being held on the last Friday each month until the Bash. The next meeting will be Friday, 27 July 2007 -- the day before the big BBQ -- at 6:30 p.m. IHOP -- Rohnert Park. Come early if you want to eat. We will be downstairs in the back in case we get too loud. Please bring your bright ideas.

Website Coordinator's report:
I have posted a new Assembly Info page
Our District believes it is very important for groups to send their representatives to the Area Assembly. With that goal in mind, the District has made some “scholarship” funds available for groups that could not otherwise afford to send their GRs (Group Representatives)... If you feel that your group is either in need of funds, can donate to the scholarship fund, or just wants to find out more about Assembly, please read the FAQ… Read more >

And here are our June page hits.

District newsletter report:
The July/August Alagram has come out, and there are a couple of corrections…
1) The Alateen meeting on Thursday at the Orenda Center in Santa Rosa that is listed on the back page of the newsletter starts at 7 pm, not 8 pm.
2) The Assembly article on page 5 is continued on page 6, not page 7 (or you can just read it here).

Member Share Topic - Dual Membership:
District 5's website and its newsletter, The Alagram, gratefully publish articles contributed by members from our District (read more about contributing here).
What follows are two member shares, one on each side of the dual membership issue that will probably be up for a vote at this Assembly… Read more >

Member Share Topic - 7th Step:
The third time is a charm…

I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with several sponsors. I was lucky to work the steps all the way through with three of them, and it was different every time. Each time the recovery was at a deeper level.

The third time through, my sponsor surprised me by assigning me the task of actually writing a 7th step prayer. I was told not to focus on what was wrong with me that I wanted changed. I was encouraged to ask to become the person I truly wanted to be, which meant I had to spend some time and actually think about who I was at my core that was being obstructed by my “character defects”...

Inspirations from Above
Surrendered … from the Inside Out

“Inspired to dance from my heart, I freely give that which is freely given to me.”
