Telephone

Listening to and speaking with other Al-Anon members is essential for breaking free of our isolating habits. Many meetings provide phone lists, both general and as part of the Newcomer's Packet. Members give their phone numbers to these lists, or if you ask them, so that we can speak between meetings on Al-Anon matters.

At first it seems that the telephone weighs 1000 lbs, but calling is a health-giving tool of our program. Easy Does It reminds us to step back and consider our needs instead of reacting. Speaking with another Al-Anon in a time of decision or crisis allows us another perspective on our circumstance.

We can also call someone just to ease into the practice. "Hi, I want to get used to calling, so let me ask you how are you today?". Works great!

DISTRICT 14 provides various Al-Anon/Alateen telephone resources specific to our locale.
