GENERAL INFORMATION

*A.I.S. stands for "Al-Anon Information Service" -- it's all about Al-Anon Information.
The A.I.S. Office operates under the auspices of the District 6-10 Intergroup Meeting.
The Intergroup Meeting is a monthly meeting where representatives of Districts 6-10 and of the Al-Anon Family Groups in those districts meet to plan and implement activities that will help the Al-Anon program to maintain and increase its availability to the general public.  The Intergroup Meeting appoints members to the A.I.S. Office Committee, which acts as a "board of directors" for the staff of the A.I.S. Office.  The staff is comprised of both paid personnel and volunteers from the member districts.  The Chairperson of the A.I.S. Office Committe is the personal link between the staff and the Office Committee.
There are two main functions of the A.I.S. Office
    1.  To serve as a literature depot making conference-approved literature availble to Al-Anon and Alateen groups in the vicinity
    2.  To serve as a means for groups in Districts 6-10 to coordinate their outreach efforts:  "When anyone anywhere reaches out for help, let the hand of Al-Anon and Alateen be there...".
